Update and Request

Update
Selah was stable through the night. We need to see some improvement and SOON! The more time that goes by, the less chance of a full recovery. We are depending on the mercy of God. The staff here is amazing. I've never seen anything like the level of concern, care and professionalism. They are as postitive as they can be, but I see in their eyes/faces and by what they don't say, that they do
not give us much hope for a full recovery. They have seen too many children/people in this situation that do not recover. I am a realist, I've seen so much heartache in life, and beiing in the ministry, I know God doesn't always answer prayers the way we may want, we live in a fallen world. But I still trust the One who has been my guide through life. I don't feel that I (as a mere mortal) can comand or demand that God do what MY will is. But I throw myself on His mercies...and I can rest in that. This morning I woke with a heavy heart and a sick stomach. I ask you to pray for the mercy of God in this situation. Pray that He will, in His grace, work a miracle. Thank you

Request
Can I ask you a favor? so many have asked "what can I do to help?" THIS is what I want. I want each of you to go to church Sunday morning and ask your church to pray for Selah. I know some of you have gotten out of the habit of church attandance and some even feel it is not necessary to go anymore, that you can worship where ever you are....but there is something special about a corprate worship service and so many praying at once. So if you want to do something for us, please do that! and ASK specificaly for your church to pray for our little girl for improvement. thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grace Church, the church my husband pastors is having a prayer service tonight (Saturday) at 7 pm for Selah. If you live in our area, please feel free to attend!!!!! http://www.gracechurchofzephyrhills.org/ is our website and there are directions there on it.

Thank you all again from the bottome of our hearts!!

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior ..." Isaiah 43:2-3

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do. I will not forsake them. Isaiah 42:16

  3. I have shared your request with my friends online who I know to be fierce prayer warriors!

Give your darling girl a kiss from me. You are all constantly in my thoughts and prayers. I will not cease my prayers for her.

God is with you, dear mom. May you feel His peace flood you, and may He be merciful with Selah. I know He is there, holding her hand and yours. xo

  4. Dearest Selah,
Hold on sweet one, Jesus is holding you while your body is beginning an amazing journey through our saviour.

    Yvonne and Jon,
I have tried to post quite a few times but my posts never make it through. I'm just not used to this blogging format, I guess. I feel specifically pulled to you guys and your situation. My niece, Rosalie, had a drowning accident in the neighborhood pool on June 6th. She was purple when they pulled her out, and her heart had stopped. After 30 minutes they finally got her heart beating again. She got way worse before she got better. Don't lose hope. I know what it's like to be a realist and to be drawn into what the drs say (or dont say). I remember day 3 or 4 after the accident with Rosalie, showing up to the hospital bawling and saying to my mom, "She's gonna die!" I asked God to change my heart I was just so grief stricken and stuck in what the world was saying. Then, while I was in Wal-mart picking up a few things for my sister and her husband, all of a sudden a wave of strength washed over me and I thought, I need to buy this little girl a "coming home" outfit. And so my heart was changed to start believeing and praying that no matter what the "world" or even myself "being a human" were saying or thinking realistically, God was calling us to believe something more. I know God doesn't always do things according to what we want and will if his bigger picture has something better overall. But God can use this for his Glory no matter what.
Rosalie got worse before she got any better. She had pupil response and was breathing over the vent for awhile also. She was opening and closing her eyes and moving her fingers at first. She had reflexes. Over the next month she lost all of those "good" signs and even "coded" out another time and they had to bring her back. My sister was considered crazy and in denial for not just "letting her go". As each detail of her vitals would get to the very bottom of what it could be and we thought for sure She was going to heaven, God would bring them back. One by one.
What we see as impossible is possible with God. I pray for Selah several times daily as I do Rosalie. Selah has been etched on my heart.

Lord God, I come to you today with an aching heart for this family as they are heading down a road we know too well. Please wrap your arms around them and envelop them with your supernatural peace. Your will be done, not our will or this world's. You are a loving, caring God. You love Selah and Yvonne and Jon so much. More than we could ever imagine. Show them your grace and mercy, Lord. Give them a little sign that You are with them Lord. That You are working on Selah. That even when things look the worst to us, for You it is only the beginning of the most glorious blessing. Although we may not understand because we don't have the full picture, we will trust you father. Bring Selah back as she was. She was perfect the way she was, and You have a great purpose for her life. For her family's lives. Give Jon peace as he goes through the same emotions Tiffany did with guilt and what-ifs and if only's. This event has been written in your book from the beginning and Jon could not have done anything different. Have him realize how supernatural that was for the stroller to roll off when he was on a flat surface and in the second it took to check the time. You knew this was coming and yYou will equip them. I love You God. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

    5. This was so beautifully written. Thank you for taking the time to write this all out. I am praying with you for Rosalie and with Yvonne and Jon for Selah. You are so right that God knew this was to be part of Selah's story. I can't imagine what each of you are going through, but I can pray. I commit to that.

  5. Do not be discouraged, even though the reality is hard, with God there is HOPE! He is more than able to do all that we ask. Praying so hard that he hears our cries for Selah's complete recovery and has mercy upon her. We give him all of the glory for this sweet child! She will definitely be lifted in corporate prayer tomorrow morning in RI. Those who will gather together in church are already praying for her individually and in small groups. Asking God to bring you peace, knowing that so many are crying out to him on your behalf. (((HUGS)))

  9. We will pray, Yvonne! We have already asked others to pray, and we will do so again. As you say, "God doesn't always answer prayers the way we may want," and we all know of stories close to us in which things didn't go the way we wanted them to, and on this earth we may never know the reason why, but don't we also all know AMAZING stories in which God brought about the impossible? Miracles, modern-day miracles from God's hands! We are praying every day for full and complete recovery, and we know beyond a doubt that our loving Father loves Selah beyond any human love, and that He treasures our prayers. May He surround each of you with deep love and the peace that passes understanding. He is a God of hope and love -- and miracles.

  12. Hi Yvonne,
Suzie and I were so impressed with your large hearts when we read in May of your taking in two more, even challenged and convicted…we are so very sorry this tragedy has come your way. We are praying, and will continue to pray.

I remember a favorite verse of yours, Psalm 91:1, He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I can only imagine bunches of people are throwing scriptures your way, please forgive me for one more, but it is my prayer God would keep you all extra close to his side and would shelter you and in spite of the turmoil and pain you would know he is near. You two have really lived out true religion in ways most missionaries don’t and God’s eyes are upon you. Hang in there.

  14. I'm so sorry, but youre right, God does answer prayers, in his own perfect will, and timing! I would have totally asked my church for prayer, but I go on Saturday nights, so I just got back from that.

  15. I hear you, I know the place of knowing that God can heal, yet not knowing if he WILL do it this time. Healing some times comes quickly, some times slowly, and the rest only when we are in our new bodies in heaven. Praying that Selah will be fully healed quickly and grace for each moment for all of you as you wait and hope. HUGS!

  20. I am a member of a denomination so small... that there isn't a regular fellowship near me that I can attend. However - I am *very* close to the others in this denomination. I have passed on your request to our "congregation," and to all of my friends on FB.
