On my blog I have a stat counter and it also shows what countries my readers are from.  I'm amazed when I see folks from all over the world who read my blog.  Russia, I get a lot of hits from you!  But never a comment.  Some countries like Dubai or the United Arab Emirates   I KNOW who that hit is from, a friend who lives there:)  I got a few hits from the Isle of Man, had to look that one up:)   Every area of the world, from South America to Asia, Europe, Africa has shown up....it is amazing to me.  Thank you for caring about our family!

Anyhow I'd love to hear from you.   I know it is not easy to comment on my blog....I know sometimes it is hard for me to comment LOL  but you are always welcomed to email me at  theclanton5@aol.com    I'd love to hear about your life and how our lives connected!   thank you for caring!

This is "Family Fun Friday" as Shad calls it.  My husband is off on Fridays and we love to spend some of it together.  He often has things he has to do for the church, but it's always a good day.   We recorded a show about travel in Ukraine and plan on watching it tonight:)  We love Ukraine!!!!

Selah had another good night and is doing good this morning.  She will have therapy today and we are hoping that if she does good over the weekend, to put her back on the passy muir valve on Monday.  We want her to work off the trach but we've had to take it slow because of the infection she was fighting.  She seems to tire easily.

You still have time to contribute to our Orphan of the Month.....we have $810 so far to send into Grace Have.  You can give directly to them or you can send a check and I will send one check next week.   Tomorrow we will have another child....there is an amazing story to tell!

Thank you for all you do and the encouragement you bring into my life:)

  3. Hi there :)

I am Steffi, from Berlin but now living in Scotland and have come across your site on Cole's Foundation after Selah's accident. My son has had a very rare and severe inflammatory brain disease and was in a coma, but he recovered. It is no comparison to drowning or choking accidents, but I have seen those in the rehab clinic and some kids made remarkable progress. There was one boy in particular, who had been unresponsive for three years after choking on half a grape, but he learned to smile again, move his hands on purpose and even use a walker. I hope that Selah, too, is making progress.

I admire your family greatly. Us, too, have adopted two teenagers who are now adults.

All the healthy vibes, hugs and love,

    Steffi (Scotty's mum)

  4. Hi Yvonne!

I have found out about Selaoh on Cole's Foundation and admire your family greatly. Us, too, have adopted two teens and have our own boy who had a severe inflammatory brain disease and was in a coma. It isn't the same though, as you said.

However, in our rehab centre, there were several children with drowning and choking accidents and many of them made remarkable progress, especially one boy who had been unresponsive for three years and now started talking again and using a walker.

I am from Berlin, but live in Scotland now. I read your blog every day and have done so for the past year.

    Hugs, vibes and love,

    Steffi, Scotty's mum

  5. Sorry for posting twice, I thought it hadn't worked the first time! Cole's Foundation is also a very good site, I often post a prayer request for Selah when she isn't doing too well.

  7. Hi! I´m a Catholic nun, living in eastern Bolivia (but US-born and raised!). We run two orphanages down here and my passion (after God!!) is orphaned/abandonded children--mine and others´! ;) I read your blog a bit while you were in the process of adopting Sarah and Selah but started reading on a more regular basis after the accident. I´ve been keeping your whole family, and especially Selah, in my prayers in a special way since then. God bless!

  8. Hi Yvonne, I've been following your blog daily since little Selah's accident. I'm from Brussels, Belgium and a mom to two wonderful boys who are my pride and joy. I've always been interested in adoption/foster parenting and hope that we will be able to welcome another child into our family one day. Due to my husband's illness and our financial situation it is not possible at the moment though. I check your blog every night before going to bed and Selah is in my thoughts every day! You have a wonderful family and I love reading about how you are all doing. Sending you all lot's of love from Belgium.

  10. Hi Yvonne, my name is Kim. I'm from Lockport, NY, not too far from Rochester! We've used both Strong and University of Rochester's orthopedic clinic when my son was an infant and toddler. He had both congenital plagiocephely and torticollis and had to wear a cranial remolding helmet. We first heard your story on the local news, probably the day it happened, and I've been following you ever since! I've always been interested in adoption, so I love reading your stories!

  12. Hi, I started following along after Selah's accident and check daily how your family is doing. Like you, I'm the spouse of a bi- vocational pastor. You and I share a love for sound doctrine and you put into words what I think but cannot articulate on your theology posts! Blessings as you run this race with perseverance.

    1. Thank you. I hope I share things good, sometimes I worry about what I write. Nothing gets me more crazy than unsound doctrine! And being in the pentcostal church world.... there is much unsound doctrine that is taught and believed. Drives me batty!!! thanks for the encouragement!!!

  13. Hi Yvonne-we are an Australian family living in Hong Kong with 3 older bio kids and 3 younger adopted kids-all special needs of some sort(or were at the time of adoption!) We also do foster care here for special needs babies waiting for adoptive families, although at the moment our newly adopted baby with ds is only 15mths so not extra babies. I have no idea how I heard about your blog, but probably through the RR group and have been reading since the accident. blessings :)

  16. Iam from Berlin/Germany and you are always on my mind and in my prayers.I have been follwing your blog almost daily for about 2 years now
We are in the process of adopting an 8 year old girl from Russia with Down Syndrome(we found her on RR before the ban)but are not sure if we are allowed to proceed since this is not a common thing in Germany to do and there are not many people who really get why are we doing this.
Our last homestudy visit is next Wednesday and we hope the social worker will approve us.
What really impresses me the most is your faith. I am learning daily from you. There are a lot of your posts about faith that really speak to me.
I gave my heart to Jesus 4 years ago (I was baptized as a baby but it took almost 37 years to really get to know Jesus).
So thank you so much for all your thoughts and your kind spirit.

  17. Hi Yvonne,
I have been following your blog since I saw that you were going to adopt Sarah and Selah. My son is blind and once I found out about RR I started watching for the blind children and giving when I could to their accounts. My own son is 3 and a 1/2 and he also has other health issues (G-tube but he is starting to eat and drink well after lots of therapy, microcephaly, hypertonia, hyperplastic corpus callosum...) I think that's all of them! But he has light perception only and has had many eye surgeries (8). He is doing so amazingly well. He walks and talks. They said he probably wouldn't be able to do that! But I believe in my son and we try hard to get him the therapy and assistance he needs.

You have done an amazing job with your children. They really impress me. I know it's not easy to fight for your child (and I only have one!) We are finally starting to see life get a little easier for our son and for us. Just watching him blossom has been a comfort. He has a lot of people praying for him. I know you have a lot of people praying for your family and I wish you the best.

    1. Isn't it something when we go through something, we are drawn to others who have gone through or are dealing with the same thing? I've always looked for blind kids too, that has gotten me in trouble LOL To me, and I'm sure you feel the same, there is just something so special and sweet about blind kids and people. It's not a world I knew anything about....until God sent us Sam but I love how he fits his hand in mine for a little help walking....and how he turns his head to catch the best light, having him slowed me down and taught me so much. I would have never even thought about adoption if it had not been for Sam!

Good for your son!!! Everything means so much more when you see your child have to work so hard for it! God bless him and you! Thanks for your prayers!
